The Wisconsin Masonic Center

The owner of MCGW is an active Freemason and spends a lot of time in this building. He has inside information on the dealings and paranormal activity that exist in this building. Over 100 years of high strangeness have occurred here, and you will hear the stories at our first stop.

Lake
Mendota

Hear chilling tales of strange sightings, lost boats, witches, & our own Madison Lake Monster - Winnebozho. Our tour is on the Madison Isthmus (check your high school geography)  and the entire tour takes place situated between two ghostly lakes.

The Edgewater
Hotel

Madison's Finest Hotel hides a lot of secrets, from the famous guests that have stayed here to the curious oddities that lurk in these guided hallways.

Ann Emery
Hall

Former Residence of Madison's most chilling UNSOLVED murder. Christine Rothschild was savagely murdered in broad daylight and then hidden in a terrifying fashion on the UW-Madison Campus. We tell her story and only hope that its retelling might someday help reveal her killer.

Delta Kappa Epsilon House

This former Fraternity House was a center for Spiritualism and a series of alarming suicides in the late 1920s. The main character of this story is one of the most terrifying sightings and is so disturbing that, if you were a sceptic before, it might just change your mind.

Memorial Union

Theater

A haunted theater may not sound like much out of the ordinary, but this theater has been haunted for over 70 years. We let you know the horrifying past that created this apparition as well as stop at one of Madison's Most Beautiful Spots - The Memorial Union.

Science Hall -
UW-Madison

Our most haunted spot. The UW System has been home to thousands of students since its beginnings in 1848. Science Hall has seen them come and go, but a few have remained in the stacks of this ancient building. Cold spots, a touch from an unseen hand, and a Mad professor all lurk behind its doors.

Bascom Hall /
Library Mall

Buried Bodies will rain on Bascom Hill and we will tell you their stories. Why they were dug upon and more strongly why they were left as they lie! After viewing the hill we move to the Memorial Library where you'll hear tales of murder and the paranormal. Some of which affect the rules of this library YET TODAY!

Lower State Street

The University Club is home to the ghost of a WW2 Soldier, and after delving into his past we move up State Street hearing stories of the haunted theaters and bars that line the most famous street in Madison. From there we will guide you back to your parking ramp, the tour starting point, or where you may drop off and take part in some of the other "spirits" that haunt State Street.

* Where we meet - On the front steps of the Wisconsin Masonic Center (formally the Madison Masonic Center). If you are on Wisconsin Ave and don’t see 4 giant white pillars and the words "Temple of Freemasonry" across the top you are at the wrong place.  Check your google navigation and try again.

* Times - Our tours start ON TIME, so please be there about 10 minutes early to get checked in.  You will see your guide as they will be the one with the Mad City Ghost Walks Shirt / Coat on and they will be asking you for information to make sure you are on the right tour.

State Street Capitol Parking Garage located at 214 N Carroll St, Madison, WI

or

Capital Square North Parking Ramp located at 218 E Mifflin St, Madison, WI 53703

* Parking - There is limited on-street parking on Wisconsin Ave as well as around the downtown area (please abide by all parking rules) if you feel like tossing the dice. Or there are (2)  Parking Ramps very close by. They have PUBLIC PARKING signs clearly posted on the ramp. This is the best option for parking.  It is about a 5 minute walk from the Parking Ramps to the front steps of the Masonic Center. PLEASE NOTE - Do not park behind the Masonic Center as the are reserved and even though not marked there is a great chance of getting towed. You’ve been warned!

* Walking Information - Our walks are about 2 hours depending on the group and there is approximately 2 miles of easy to moderate walking. There is 1 small uphill (it’s at the beginning)  and the rest is pretty easy walking, at a pretty easy pace with plenty of stops. It’s a beautiful area, all sidewalks and through a safe and well lit areas. Please follow your guide and only cross when they do abiding by all traffic and pedestrian rules and guidelines. Service dogs are allowed, but other pets are strongly discouraged. Plus, they scare the Spirits away!  We love all pets but best to leave Fido, Whiskers, and your Emotional Support Ostrich at home. Thanks Much!!

* Legal Information and Disclaimers - Our tours are scary and cover adult topics. As so we advise that no one under the age of 18 take these tours. No one under that age will be allowed without the legal parent or guardian accompany them. With that caveat, no one under the age of 16 will be allowed on the tour. Our tours cover both Historical and Paranormal information, so if you’re a fan of both, there will be plenty in supply.  We will be walking for approx 2 miles covering typical City sidewalks, so if this is a challenge for you we suggest not taking the tour.  We also cross many streets. Our Guides will lead the group but each person on the tour needs to be in charge of their own safety when crossing or standing near streets. Traffic moves kind of fast in downtown Madison so PLEASE be sure to keep your eyes open to your surrounding. Mad City Ghost Walks, its Owner(s), Guides, and other Affiliates cannot be held responsible for any negative issue, personal injury, or condition that may arise from going on our tour. Purchasing a ticket to one of our walks expresses a holds harmless claim for Mad City Ghost Walks.
